18th FAI European Paragliding Championships Weather Forecast Aug 8th
Summary of weather conditions
After yesterday's front passed through the entire region, the atmosphere is clearer but the ground is wetter. This means that the sun's energy will take longer to reach the air, and at least initially, the thermal cycles will be slow.
At some point around 13.00, however, the entire atmosphere will start working and we will have Cumulus over the mountains, which will pass into the Pelagonia valley to our east at 12.00.
After 14.00 we expect spreadout mainly to the Southeast with shadow.
After 16.00 the weather will open from the west.
The cloud base will be around 3,000 and the cloud tops are expected to reach 5,500 meters in the mountains.
The wind will be northeasterly 20-25 kph, and at high altitude it will limit further development into storms.
At the ground the wind will be 15-18 kph with gust 30kph at 15.30 from the northeast while higher up it will become more northerly and will strengthen up to 25kph at all altitudes.
Average thermal value 3m/s and best thermal zone from 1500-2500m
Inversions 2400m, 3300m 5500m
