Weather Forecast Sun July 12th : Flymaster Open - Macedonian and Hungarian Nationals 2026

Synoptic Overview

Barometric pressure tendencies indicate a weak cold front traversing the Kruševo region around midday on Sunday. This frontal system is projected to clear the Pelagonian valley after 15:00 LT.
Sky Condition & Cloud Development
  • Early Morning: Predominantly blue thermal conditions initially.
  • 11:00 LT: First Cumulus (Cu) formations visible to the west from launch. These cells will rapidly approach from the west, exhibiting both horizontal extension and vertical development.
  • 12:00 LT: Frontal cloud mass in close proximity to the site.
  • 13:00 LT: Complete overdevelopment (OD) and shading over all ridges surrounding the valley.
  • 14:00 LT: Cloud spread-out extending over the flats toward Prilep.
  • 15:00 LT: Localized convective showers developing and filling in from the northwest.
  • 18:00 LT: Frontal clearance with skies beginning to open up.
  • Cloud Base: Throughout this cyclical development, the cloud base will steadily rise, peaking above 3,000m AMSL. but drops after a second cycle after 17.00LT
Wind Profile
The frontal passage will trigger significant wind shifts across all layers:
  • Pre-frontal (Morning): Light easterly flow (<10 km/h) from the surface up to launch elevation.
  • 13:00 LT: Variable and converging winds, working from both sides of the ridge.
  • Mid-day: Surface flow shifting westerly, while a distinct NW flow (~20 km/h) prevails aloft.
  • Post-frontal (After 15:00 LT): The upper-level NW wind will mix down, becoming dominant at all altitudes down to valley floor levels. Later valley surface valley winds will switch to NE<15kph.
Soaring Conditions & Flight Potential
The soaring window will be brief and volatile. Conditions will start weak but will become increasingly usable after 12:00 LT.
  • 13:00 LT: Strong lift up to 2,000m.
  • 14:00 LT: Strong lift extending up to 2,800m. for thermals breaking the inversion level.
  • 15:00 LT: Peak thermal activity with integrated climb rates of +4 m/s up to 3,200m.
The front: Immediately following this peak, the frontal boundary hits. Conditions will rapidly deteriorate due to total overdevelopment  from the NW, incoming shade, collapsing lift, and high probability of localized showers.
Late Afternoon: After 17:00 LT, a secondary, weaker convective cycle will trigger, generating soft thermals and recycled Cumulus with bases just above 2,200m over the valley.
Flight Strategy & XC Potential
A 2-hour flight window is highly viable between 12:00 LT and 15:30 LT. Pilots utilizing this rapid convergence and strong pre-frontal lift have an estimated XC potential of 65–70 km.

65-70km.
